ABOUT SONIA

Sonia Sánchez Díaz is Professor of International Relations and Vice-Dean of Internationalisation at the Francisco de Vitoria University.  She is a political scientist, specialist in International Relations, the Middle East and Israel, and throughout her career she has combined her profile as an international political advisor and analyst with project management, teaching and research.

Throughout her career she has combined her profile as an international policy advisor and analyst with project management, teaching and research. She has worked as an Analyst and Political Advisor in the cabinet of the Commissioner for External Relations, Chris Patten (European Commission, 2004) and in the European Parliament (2004-2006). In 2006 she joined the Department of Infrastructure and Crisis Monitoring of the Prime Minister’s Office as an Intelligence Analyst. Subsequently, she joined the management team of Centro Sefarad-Israel (2008), where she worked for eight years as Project Manager for Education, Economics, Politics and Civil Society.

She has directed numerous summer courses, seminars and meetings. Her publications include Israel Start-up Nation, how was the Silicon Wadi of the Middle East forged? (2016) or Zionism as Political Philosophy (2014).

She has a Degree in Political Science and Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid, specialising in International Relations. She also has a master’s degree in international relations-Middle East from the University of Durham (UK) and a master’s degree in Israeli politics and Society from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2001). She is a graduate of the National Defence Course from CESEDEN (Spanish Ministry of Defence).
