ABOUT POL

Pol Morillas is Director of the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB).

He has taught at several universities, including the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), IBEI, Blanquerna and Esade. He is also a member of the Observatory of European Foreign Policy. Previously, he was Head of the Euro-Mediterranean Policies area at the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), Coordinator of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union, and Advisor on External Action at the European Parliament.

He has published numerous research articles in academic journals, think tanks and opinion articles. His latest book is Strategy-Making in the EU. From Foreign and Security Policy to External Action and has co-directed the documentary Bouncing Back: world politics after the pandemic (2021), which proposes a reflection on the dynamics of conflict and opportunities for international cooperation in the post-COVID-19 world.

In addition, he has participated in several H2020 and Horizon research projects, collaborates with other think tanks and international organisations, and participates as a speaker in European and international debates and seminars. He regularly collaborates with different media outlets (press, radio and TV) as an analyst on European and international affairs.

He holds a PhD in Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), MSc. in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and Degree in Political Science from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
