Patricia Ortega García

Patricia Ortega García is Major General of the Polytechnic Engineers Corps of the Spanish Army and was the first woman to be appointed general. She currently serves as Deputy Director General of The Spanish National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA, in Spanish).
She has been posted to the Central Maintenance Park, at the Sub-Directorate General of Projects and Works and at the Sub-Directorate General for Planning, both sub-directorates of the Directorate-General for Infrastructure. She also worked in the General Projects Sub-Directorate of the General Inspectorate of the Spanish Army.
She joined the Army in 1988, being also the first woman to enter the scale to which she belongs. Her professional work includes the Infrastructure of the Electronic Warfare Program ‘Santiago’ (buildings in protected areas of special urban impact) and the Infrastructure Plan for the Implementation of Infrastructure of the UME (application of industrial production to the contracting and management of works of 95 typified buildings executed in two years).
She is an Agricultural Engineer specialising in Agro-Food Industries from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and a Construction and Electricity Engineer from the Spanish Army Polytechnic School.
