ABOUT NATHALIE

Nathalie Tocci is Director of the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI). She also serves as a Non-Executive Independent Director of Gruppo Acea and holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Tübingen, and teaching at the Florence School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute.

Her main research areas include European integration and foreign policy, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, transatlantic relations, multilateralism, conflict resolution, energy, climate, and defence.

She is a regular commentator in the media, with columns in Politico Europe and La Stampa, and she is a frequent panellist on BBC’s The Context.

She has served as a Special Advisor to the EU High Representatives Federica Mogherini and Josep Borrell, contributing to the development and implementation of the European Global Strategy. She has held research positions at the Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels, the Transatlantic Academy in Washington DC, and the European University Institute in Florence.

She was a Fellow of the Europe’s Futures Program at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM), a Visiting Professor at the Pierre Keller Program at the Harvard Kennedy School, and an Independent Board Member of Edison and Eni. She has also taught at the College of Europe in Bruges.

She holds a PhD in International Relations and a master’s degree in development studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a BA from University College, Oxford.
