Embassy of Spain to Brazil
Mar Fernández-Palacios has been Ambassador of Spain to the Federative Republic of Brazil since August 2022.
Previously, she was Ambassador of Spain to Nicaragua and before that she was posted to the Spanish embassies in Ukraine, China, Brazil and Morocco, and to the Permanent Representation of Spain to NATO in Brussels, as well as served as Deputy Head of the Spanish Embassy in Havana. In Madrid, she has been an Advisor in the Department of International Policy in the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government and has worked in the Directorate General of Consular Affairs and in the Diplomatic Information Office. From July 2015 to July 2018, she was Deputy Director General for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean in the Directorate General for Ibero-America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.
She holds a Degree in Geography and History, specialising in American History, from the University of Seville and entered the diplomatic career in 1991.
