ABOUT MANUEL

Manuel Muñiz is the Provost of IE University in Madrid and Professor of Practice of International Relations. He is also the Dean of IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs.

He was Secretary of State for España Global in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, where he coordinated the drafting of the Foreign Action Strategy 2021-2024 and led the composition of the National Strategy on Technology and Global Order (a document called to launch the Spanish Technological Diplomacy). He was Coordinator of the 2020 Spanish Presidency of the OECD and was part of the Expert Group on COVID-19 established by the President of the Government that helped design the Spanish De-escalation Strategy.

From 2017 and 2020 he was a Senior Associate and one of the promoters of the Project on Europe and the Transatlantic Relationship at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Between 2015 and 2017, he directed the Transatlantic Relations Programme at the Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center of International Affairs.

He holds a PhD in International Relations from Oxford University, a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, a master’s degree in Stock Exchange and Financial Markets from the Stock Market Studies Institute (IEB), and a Law Degree from the Complutense University of Madrid.
