Luis Servén

Luis Servén is Governing Council member of the Bank of Spain and a member of its Audit Committee, a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI), Professor in the Advanced Seminars Program at IE University, and a member of the Advisory Council of the Global Knowledge Report.
During his time at the World Bank, he was Acting Director of the Research Department, Director of the Macroeconomics and Growth Research Program, Lead Economist, Deputy Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Senior Advisor. He also served on the Research Committee, Editorial Committee, and Advisory Council of the Latin America Development Forum within the organisation. Previously, he was a Research Economist at the Foundation for Applied Economics Studies (FEDEA).
He has taught classes at the Center for Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI), the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the Complutense University of Madrid.
He has focused his research on capital flows and financial globalisation and growth, and has published numerous books and journal articles.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the MIT and a BA from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
