Juana Téllez is Chief Economist at BBVA Group in Colombia and leads the BBVA Research team dedicated to the economic, financial, and regulatory analysis in Colombia.

During her professional career, she has studied issues related to the financial sector, monetary policy, real estate, the labour market, education and financial regulation, among others, as well as macroeconomic, microeconomic, and public policy issues to analyse the current performance and growth prospects of countries.

She has recently ventured into the analysis of economic performance and public policy from a gender perspective. She has been a Professor and Researcher at the Javeriana University and has held various positions at the Banco de la República and the Central Bank of Colombia, in areas such as the financial sector, macroeconomic programming, and economic research. She is a regular columnist for media outlets and author of several publications in specialised journals.

She holds a PhD and master’s degree in economics from Queen Mary, University of London, and a BA in Economics from the Javeriana University of Bogotá.
