María Cristina Latorre Sancho is Ambassador of Spain to Turkey since March 2024.
Prior to assuming her current position, she has had an outstanding professional career in the diplomatic and governmental spheres. She has stood out as Under-Secretary of Justice (2018-20), Secretary General of the Presidency of the Government and Deputy Secretary General (2008-11), Director General of International Judicial Cooperation at the Ministry of Justice, Chief of Cabinet of the under-secretaries of Education, Science and Sport (2004-06), and of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, as well as Advisor to the Office of Diplomatic Information and Drug and Terrorism Affairs of the Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs. She has also represented Spain at the International Commission of the Jacobean Council for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She holds a Law Degree from the University of Zaragoza and has completed several executive education programs, including the Senior Management Program at IESE Business School, the Executive Program for Lawyers at Harvard Law School, and the Program for Leadership and Public Management at IESE. She has been a member of the diplomatic corps since 1991.
