ABOUT ÁNGELES

Ángeles Santamaría is Professor at the School of Engineering (ICAI) at the University of Comillas. She is one of the most influential people in the energy sector and in the business world, appearing in several prominent rankings such as those of the Expansión newspaper, El Periódico, the HR Observatory and the TOP 100 leaders.

Previously, she served as the CEO of Iberdrola Spain from 2018 to June 2022 and she was the Director of Iberia and International at Iberdrola Renovables, where she oversaw business development in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Brazil. She has been a member of the board of directors of several companies within the Iberdrola group, to which she has been linked for two decades, as well as of Iberdrola’s subsidiaries.

She has played a significant role in the renewable energy sector as a member of the Board of WindEurope (the European Wind Energy Association) and the Advisory Board of the Renewable Energy Industry of the International Energy Agency (RIAB), among others.

Her participation in various business forums and associations has allowed her to promote and propose solutions for energy transition. She has been an active member of several institutions and associations, such as the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, the Elcano Royal Institute, the Circle of Entrepreneurs, the Spanish Association of Electrical Industry (AELEC), and Enerclub, among others.

She holds an electrical engineering degree from the ICAI School of Engineering at the Pontifical University of Comillas.
