Álvaro Iranzo Gutiérrez

Álvaro Iranzo Gutiérrez is Ambassador of Spain to the Arab Republic of Egypt. With a long professional career as a diplomat, he has dedicated a large part of his career to the Maghreb, Middle East and Africa.
He has held various diplomatic posts in countries such as Gabon, Mozambique, Algeria, Angola, Malaysia, Brunei, Israel and Saudi Arabia. In the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, he has held prominent roles as Deputy Director General for Northern Africa and Director General of Foreign Policy for the Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa. In addition, he has been Ambassador-at-Large for the NATO Summit in 2022.
He holds a Degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Diploma in International Studies from the Diplomatic School of Spain. He entered the diplomatic career in 1981 and has served as Second-in-Command at the Spanish embassies in Gabon, Mozambique and Algeria. He has also been Consul General of Spain in Sydney.
