Description

The Iberian Digital Media Observatory (IBERIFIER Plus) aims to expand the work of the previous IBERIFIER project (2021-2024) to contribute to the fight against disinformation in Spain and Portugal. This expanded project involves 25 partners and conducts fact-checking in Portuguese, Spanish, and Catalan, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for early detection. Its goal is to analyze the effects of disinformation on the digital media landscape, strengthen political and social mechanisms to counter disinformation campaigns, and improve media literacy. IBERIFIER Plus also seeks to influence regions beyond the Iberian Peninsula, including linguistic areas connected to Portuguese and Spanish, such as Latin America, Africa, and Asia, reaching over 800 million native speakers. The project plans robust dissemination and engagement strategies to maximize the impact of its findings, aligning with the objectives of the Digital Europe Program and the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) strategy to address disinformation on a broader scale.
