Project Management Office

The Elcano Royal Institute has undertaken specific research projects within the framework of international, European and domestic programmes, with the goal of placing the Institute at the forefront of cooperative research in the pan-European context, contributing to the Spanish presence in research processes aimed at aiding EU decision-making and giving impetus to the setting up of international strategic studies to reflect Spanish interests. All this is on the basis of innovation, scientific excellence, methodical analysis, transfer of knowledge and the harnessing of results.

Through its Project Management Office, set up in 2014, the Elcano Royal Institute has promoted the Institute’s candidacy in public and private bids for funding, identifies strategic partners and manages networks of collaborative alliances.

Radicalisation Awareness Network

Project name: RAN Phase 2

Description: The policy oriented RAN-Policy Support project provides support to the European Commission and EU Member States in the development of the European agenda for the prevention of violent radicalization (P/CVE). As part of the Consortium, Elcano Royal Institute is coordinator of the Functional Unit dedicated to Research and Innovation. In addition, it contributes to the project through the production of specialized papers and the organization of research and dissemination activities

ReConnect China

Project name: ReConnect China

Description: The project aims to generate a deeper, sustainable understanding of contemporary China and to build a resilient future with China for the EU and its citizens, leading scientific European expertise and innovative digital technologies are mobilized.

IBERIFIER Plus

Project name: IBERIFIER Plus

Description: The Iberian Digital Media Observatory (IBERIFIER Plus) aims to combat disinformation in its multiple dimensions. Composed of 25 partners from Spain and Portugal and combining the work of experienced fact-checkers with technological tools like AI, it continuously monitors disinformation flows circulating in media and social networks in Portuguese, Spanish, and Catalan, and develops media literacy strategies. The Elcano Royal Institute contributes to the project by leading the work package focused on analyzing the strategic dimension of disinformation campaigns, as well as their impact on society and democracy.
