Francisco Andrés Pérez was the coordinator of the Elcano Royal Institute’s Project Office. He has a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Salamanca, a BA in Journalism from Madrid’s Carlos III University and an MA in International Relations from the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI). He has spent most of his career in the academic and scientific fields. Over the past decade he has specialised in the internationalisation of research. He taught at the University of Salamanca’s Department of Applied Mathematics from 1998 to 2005 and was a member of the Foreign Policy Observatory of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona’s Institute of European Studies from 2006 to 2012. In 2006 he joined the European Affairs Programme at the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) and in 2010 was appointed coordinator of its European Projects Office, a post he held until 2013. He has cooperated with the University of Salamanca in its Master’s programme on European Union Studies and with the IBEI’s Master’s programme on International Relations of IBEI in several different areas (game theory, international political economy and European energy policy). He has also contributed to Telefónica’s corporate magazine PULSO on technological and international affairs. He has been President of the IBEI’s Alumni Association since 2009.
