With just one year to go until the completion of the Roadmap 2020-2025 – the document that sets out the objectives of the strategic relationship between the EU and India – and with the imminent arrival of a new Trump administration to the White House, which may bring opportunities, but also great challenges for both partners, it is the right time to take stock and analyse whether at the present time, the eternal promise of taking the relationship to a higher level is on track and progressing at a good pace. With this in mind, this second session of the webinar series: “India in the Indo-Pacific today” will address the evolution of relations between India and the European Union from a historical perspective, with a special emphasis on the present moment. It will also provide the keys to analysis and judgement about the desire and intention to transform a bilateral relationship that for the moment is eminently economic, into one of a much more strategic nature.
To do so, the variables that have transformed the nature of this relationship will be addressed:
- The power and relevance of India at a regional and global level.
- The growing importance of the Indo-Pacific as a center of gravity for both.
- The current geopolitical and geostrategic context after the start of the war in Ukraine and the growing Sino-Russian alliance.
