In view of the upcoming NATO summit in Madrid this June, the Elcano Royal Institute hosted a roundtable with experts on transatlantic relations to discuss on the implications of the war in Ukraine and the future of Europe’s security panorama. Concretely, this discussion sought to assess how the war impacts the adoption and the content of NATO’s Strategic Concept, as well as the implications in the long run for NATO’s future. Experts shall address how collective defence and deterrence should be enhanced in this guiding document considering the current geopolitical reality.
