Venue: Espacio Bertelsmann
Wednesday, 23 April, from 12:30 to 14:00 h. CEST (UTC+2). Venue: Espacio Bertelsmann (c/ O’Donnell 10, Madrid).
In recent years, the global landscape has become increasingly fraught with challenges. The conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have profoundly reshaped the global security landscape, while the return of Donald Trump to the US presidency has deepened uncertainty and mistrust in global relations. Deepening geopolitical fault lines and weakened multilateral structures make addressing these and other long-term challenges, such as the governance of critical technologies, increasingly difficult.
Amid this uncertainty, the EU and China remain crucial actors in addressing shared economic, security, and environmental challenges. The current geopolitical landscape presents both opportunities and challenges for the reconfiguration of EU-China relations. This roundtable will examine how shifting power dynamics, as well as economic and security uncertainties, are shaping the strategies of both the EU and China. Featuring perspectives from European and Chinese experts, the discussion will explore the strategic adjustments necessary to ensure continued cooperation in an increasingly polarized world.
