Expert Comments
The Elcano Expert Comments are brief 1,000- to 1,500-word pieces produced by the Elcano Royal Institute's analysts as an immediate response to international events relevant to Spain.
Analysis of the Real Instituto Elcano (ARI)
The analyses are short pieces -of around 3,000 words- on aspects of current international affairs considered to be of relevance to Spain, its foreign policy or its security. In broad terms ARIs are intended to have a predictive bearing on events.
Working Papers (WP)
The Elcano Royal Institute's Working Papers are longer documents of an academic nature -usually between 10,000 and 12,000 words long, with footnotes and bibliographies- on current international affairs of relevance to Spain or on different aspects of Spain's foreign policy and security.
Barometer of the RIE (BRIE)
The BRIE is a thrice-yearly survey conducted in February, June and November that focuses on the opinions, judgements and attitudes of Spaniards on all aspects of international affairs and Spanish foreign policy (defence, the image of Spain and of other countries, Spain's position in the European Union and public perceptions of dangers and threats). It is structured in two basic modules: a fixed set of questions that provide a time-series on a number of essential parameters and a second set of questions, which vary from one survey to the next, relating to current events.
